Our full time crews work a 48/96 shift with 3 shifts what we call A, B and C shift. We staff four (4) MICU ambulances and an On-Duty Supervisor (ODS) 24/7. We have an additional 2 medic units staffed 8a-5p Monday through Friday. On weekend or after hours, if the need arises we have the ability to staff up to six (6) medic units by utilizing local off duty personnel. We house 2 - 48hr crews and ODS at Station #1, 1 - 48hr crew at Station #2, and 1 - 48hr crew at Station #3. Our 8a-5p units run out of Station #1. Crews work at each station a month at a time before rotating out.
Our Admin Offices are open Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. All of our Admin team members are certified minimally to the EMT-Basic level, but most are Paramedics.

Applicant/Candidate Process: (in the below listed order)
After you have completed the applicant process, and you have been offered and accepted a Conditional Job Offer you will then be scheduled for the following:
Once all of the above have been completed and successfully passed, you will then be scheduled for the next step.
Field Training
All along the way you will be expected to complete competency testing for SOGs, Protocols, Medications, Operations, as well as continuous practice scenarios for medical and trauma patients.
You will be graded each shift by your FTO and feedback given.
A candidate will only be released from the FTO program once they have successfully passed all testing, and have successfully completed and passed all assigned clearance medical and trauma scenarios.

You may submit all needed documents if you choose, however initially you can just submit your application, and resume if you have one. As you move through the process you will be asked to provide the other documents listed in the required section above.
You will be notified by either phone or email (if provided) of a test date once it has been set. This could be days, weeks or even a month after you apply.
You are more than welcome to submit your application and we will keep you application on file for 6 months.
We do offer a CADET program occasionally as the need arises; however we do have our own EMS Academy and offer EMT classes year around. Visit our academy website at www.wcesd3.academy.org or contact our offices at 830-581-0380 for more information.
We can work with you on this. Still submit your application and you will be allowed to go through the process; however before you would be allowed to start shift you would be expected to take the class(s). We do offer these classes in-house.
Our field training process is extensive but the amount of time it takes for an individual to complete it ranges from 45 days to 90 days.
